Arnold, seeing as this site operates basically for us lately, this pretty much is where I would like to go with my art. I love it, it reminds me of when I could do no wrong, it was an adventure and fun. And sometimes working late into the night in my studio, all alone, Spadina Avenue completely dark, completely bereft of traffic and silent outside my windows, I'd catch a glimpse of what I'd created and it would scare the shit out of me. Toni's got me beat tenfold.
Two things, Kagan - first, you're under arrest! Contraveningthe blue laws! I refer to the tendency of red and blue to defract off one another, making them difficult to work with in certain intensities, and to the almost unavoidable characteristic of blues to punch holes in the surface, anathema to an Abex Fundamentalist. Second, well i've forgatten what second was. Your nostalgic remembrance struck a chord with me for sure...
Toni Malaqi, my congratulations to you for creating interesting, lively art. I've looked at everything in your portfolio and it's all of interest. I don't know exactly what your up to. I could make reference to many historical artists but won't because your art, at least to me, is uniquely your own, so keep doing whatever it is you're doing and keep uploading the images here.
Toni, what a wild lyrical touch you have with the brush, and such a wry, amusing point of view. Kagan is right to admire your exuberant talent! What's new? As an aside to both of you, it is T's work on the sidewalk to which i aspire...
What I admire about this work is that narrative and pure form are so well balanced. It is not simple to make these two elements work for one another and not one against the other.
