"STUDIO LOG" PROJECTS
About STUDIO LOG

ArtProcess STUDIO LOG enables artists to document the day-to-day evolution of works in progress.

The artist describes how an artwork comes into being by posting (over time) status updates along with images of the day's progress.

The aim of STUDIO LOG is to record the art process as it happens - giving witness to the patterns of ideas, forms, and events that aren't often observed in the completion of a finished work.

In theory, this is the most intimate part of artprocess where a little of the artist self is revealed. It's proved to be the most difficult challenge for the artists so far - many are completely against the idea of openly discussing their process.

Studio Log appropriately abbreviates to SLOG (as in hard).

Porto Seguro is historically the first city which was founded in Brazil. There I saw the first houses, the first church, the first prison and a beautiful view of the blue sea.

A guide took me over the historical site talking about the few nice little, colourful houses which have survived time. This houses are so small and beautiful, the very first constructions of the beggining of the bir ... continued

During the summer, I had been complaining to a friend that the last work I sold was in 1986. This surprised her as she's always been enthusiastic about the stuff I do, and so suggested I send some paintings (within the month) to where she now lives in North America that she could try to sell. I eagerly went out to buy the best quality linen/cotton weave and stretched 4 new canvases. As I was wo ... continued 3

Scraps of Paper and Drawings For Paintings

Hillel
Kagan
For years I've kept a box where I throw drawings and sketches. Sometimes I'll do these things to work out a composition in advance, or sometimes during the painting process, if I run into trouble, a small study of some component or other is helpful.
At times I might make some drawings to determine if I want to proceed with a painting idea and then decide against it. Other times I just may do s ... continued

The Club de Madrid, officially or not quite, was formed in December 2007, when I decided to join Karen in Madrid and Hanjo thought it might be a good idea to join us too. Hillel was not there in person but in our thoughts and our talks, so he is the member of honor of EL Club de Madrid.

As I've already said I do not "invent" my theme in the meaning of creating kind of an "own world".

As far as my subject, the human body, is concerned, I try to avoid taking it as a mere object or a pretext for the interpretation of underlying issues. And I do not paint a model sitting in my studio in the flesh, to avoid the well known pose of the "reclining nude"€. Instead, I use a camer ... continued
