I also like your paintings precisely for that open, unfinished, character. They have the quality of a remembered image, an instant of light kept in our brains without too many details, like a memory in which one recalls the atmosphere, the heat, the smell or the laughters of an evening, but not the faces of the people that were there. It reminds me of Alex Kanevsky, although I find these works less static than his. Kanevsky owes something to Antonio Lopez, and time impreganates Antonio’s ouvre also, sometimes to the point of suffocation, at least for me.
This one looks like a fast watercolour but one can sense the air in it. It’s odd, and I can’t explain why, but to me they all seem to move in an old atmosphere, as if the scenes took place a long time ago, even the kids playing make me feel this way, and this adds to the feeling of something that’s no longer here, images that begin to fade, time that has already gone by, even in your canvas.
